Ophelia
John Everett Millais, 1851-52Fine art reproduction on 200gsm matte paper. A5 to A1, plus 12x16, 18x24 and 24x36 inches. She floats, still singing, as the river carries her away. John Everett Millais painted Shakespeare's Ophelia in 1851 and 1852. He spent months painting the riverbank beside the Hogsmill in Surrey, then posed Elizabeth Siddal in a bath of warm water in his London studio. The lamps under the bath went out, and she caught a severe cold. Look closely for the red poppy, a sign of death. The original hangs in Tate Britain.
