Joan of Arc
John Everett Millais, 1865Fine art reproduction on 200gsm matte paper. A5 to A2, plus 12x16 and 18x24 inches.Joan kneels in armour, sword in hand, eyes raised in prayer before battle.
John Everett Millais painted Joan of Arc in 1865. The young saint kneels in plate armour, her hands clasped around the hilt of her sword, lost in prayer.
Millais was a founding member of the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood. When he showed the painting at the Royal Academy, The Times complained the gleaming armour drew attention away from her face. Others saw it as the point: a girl inside the weight of war.
The look
Polished steel, soft light and Joan's upturned face. Still, devout and strong. Pre Raphaelite wall art suited to a dark academia study, bedroom or hallway.

This painting stops at A2. Above that size the original photograph loses the fine detail of the brushwork, so the shop does not offer it.
Custom sizes on request. Inch sizes have a slightly different shape from A sizes, so the edges trim a little. Size guide
